Refund Policy
This Refund Policy applies to all purchases from Studio Practice, operated by Wilfredo Valle as a sole proprietor in San Mateo, California. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Studio Practice is the seller of record for every transaction.
Studio Practice offers two distinct kinds of work, each with its own refund treatment. Read the section that applies to your purchase:
- Part A — Software Products: licensed downloadable apps such as CyberRuler.
- Part B — Services: custom engagements such as web audits, mockups, design systems, and client websites.
Part A — Software Products
Software products are downloadable digital goods (for example, CyberRuler and future Studio Practice macOS apps). System requirements are listed on every product page; please verify compatibility before purchase. Because software is delivered instantly and cannot be returned, our default position is that all software sales are final after download. The exceptions below cover the few situations where a refund is appropriate.
1. When We Will Refund a Software Purchase
We will issue a refund within fourteen (14) days of purchase if any of the following applies:
- The software does not install, launch, or run on a Mac that meets the system requirements stated on the product page.
- The software has a material defect that materially impairs its advertised functionality, and we are unable to resolve the issue with reasonable effort.
- You were charged in error (for example, a duplicate transaction).
To request a software refund, email hello@studiopractice.io with the email address used at checkout and a brief description of the issue. We aim to respond within two business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method via Stripe; processing typically takes five to ten business days.
2. When We Will Not Refund a Software Purchase
Because software is a downloadable digital product, we do not offer refunds for:
- Change of mind, accidental purchase, or duplicate orders after the software has been downloaded and the license activated.
- Buyer's remorse, lack of use, or a decision to switch to a competing product.
- Compatibility issues caused by configurations or system modifications that fall outside the stated system requirements.
- Requests made more than fourteen (14) days after the original purchase, except where required by law.
3. Statutory Rights — European Union, United Kingdom, and Other Jurisdictions
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that grants statutory cancellation or withdrawal rights for digital purchases, those rights apply regardless of the policy above. In most cases, the right of withdrawal for digital downloads expires once the download begins, provided you have given express prior consent at checkout. Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
Part B — Services
Studio Practice services include web audits, design mockups, design systems, custom websites, and other client work commissioned on a per-engagement basis. Because services are bespoke and time-bound, their refund treatment differs from the software policy above. The specifics of any single engagement are governed by the written proposal, statement of work, or invoice that you accepted; that document controls if it conflicts with anything below.
4. Web Audits
A Studio Practice web audit is typically delivered as a single self-contained HTML report, often gated behind a password. Audits are refundable in full until the moment the audit URL is shared with you. Once you have received access to the report, the engagement is considered delivered and is non-refundable. If the audit was substantially deficient (for example, it covers the wrong website or omits the deliverables described in the proposal), email us and we will fix or rerun it at no additional charge.
5. Mockups, Design Systems, and Custom Websites
Custom engagements are billed in milestones — typically a deposit at signing, followed by per-milestone invoices, and a final balance at handoff. Each milestone is considered earned once the corresponding deliverable has been shared with you for review.
- Deposit: non-refundable once Studio Practice has begun work, because the deposit reserves the schedule and covers initial discovery time.
- In-progress milestones: refundable in proportion to work not yet delivered. If you cancel after one milestone has been delivered, future milestones billed but not yet started will be refunded; delivered milestones are not.
- Final balance: due on handoff. Once the final deliverables have been transferred to you, the engagement is considered complete and non-refundable.

6. Cancellation by Studio Practice
Studio Practice may, in rare cases, choose to end a services engagement — for example, if scope creep makes the work no longer feasible at the agreed rate, or if a working relationship has broken down. In that event, you will be refunded for any milestones billed but not yet delivered, and you will retain all deliverables produced up to that point.
7. Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or card issuer instead of contacting us first, we may be unable to assist further. For software products, your license may be revoked once the chargeback is processed; for services, the engagement is automatically terminated. We strongly encourage you to email hello@studiopractice.io first — most issues are resolved faster directly with us than through your bank.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. The version in effect at the time of your purchase (or at the time you signed the proposal, for services) governs that transaction.
